BUDGETARY/FISCAL IMPACT:

The award is funded entirely by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Pilot Commercial Deployment Project and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's Carl Moyer Program.
BACKGROUND/RATIONALE:
On April 26, 2017, the Board of Directors approved a funding agreement for the Fuel Cell Electric Bus Commercialization Consortium (FCEBCC) Project.
The District partnered with the Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE), the Orange County Transportation Authority, Linde, New Flyer, and Ballard to submit a grant application to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for the FY2016 Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Pilot Commercial Deployment Project grant program for the FCEBCC project (Project).
The CARB funding provides for an upgrade of the Emeryville Division 2 hydrogen fueling facility to accommodate expansion of the hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet. This contract provides for the infrastructure required to support the upgraded compression system. Additionally, this contract provides for a new canopy and the relocation of the existing fueling dispenser across the bus yard such that they will be in-line with the existing diesel dispenser at the fuel island. As a result, all buses will have the same service routing pattern in the yard.
