The award of grant funds for the project will assist the District in meeting its zero emission transition program goals.

BUDGETARY/FISCAL IMPACT:

Staff recommends applying for up to $2 million for the East Oakland Battery Electric Bus Infrastructure Project.

The 2026 ACTC Comprehensive Investment Program (ACTC CIP) Funds require a concurrent local match of 25%. Matching funds are available from Caltrans, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Staff intends to provide a local match of 50% ($1,000,000) for this application due to available funding for the project and a higher score on the application.

BACKGROUND/RATIONALE:

On July 26, 2024, ACTC announced the availability of $100 million in Fiscal Year 2026 funding to support initiatives and projects listed in its Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP).
