Staff designed the June Sign-up to achieve two key objectives: suspend Supplementary Service and adjust running times to support Oakland-Alameda Access Project (OAAP) detours. Staff also made minor service changes to respond to current conditions and improve service quality for both riders and operators.

BUDGETARY/FISCAL IMPACT:

Total daily weekday vehicle platform hours decreased from Spring 2026 service levels by 207 hours. Saturday and Sunday had a net difference of 9 hours each. In total, these changes result in a decrease of 8,552 platform hours in summer. The decrease in hours results in an expense decrease of $1.47 million for the signup period. This decrease is expected and already factored into the operating budget.

BACKGROUND/RATIONALE:

AC Transit typically conducts four sign-ups each year as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with ATU Local 192 (ATU). These occur in April, June, August and January.

The 2026 June Sign-up suspends Supplementary Service trips on lines 57, 72M, 76, 93, 95, 97 and all 600 lines. The run assignment count decreases by one since the Line 51A short piece of work to accommodate the OAAP detour, implemented in April, is now included in a signed run. This brought the run assignment count down to 930 for June.

For the following lines identified below, Staff added 15 minutes to trips affected by the OAAP detour that use the Webster Tube at or after 9:55 p.m. and now detour via the Park Street Bridge. As part ...
